Have you ever heard a disparaging remark about a cookie? Until recently my favorite cookie in town was the Mudslide Cookie at Noah's Bagels. I believed it to be a giant cookie of perfect crisp chewyness, extremely chocolately, slightly gooey, and just the right amount of nuts.
There's a new game in cookie town.
Two Tarts Bakery, located on NW Kearney (NW 23rd basically), next door to a toy shop and an outlandishly expensive interior decorating store, does cookies up right. They're small, and priced at .75 each feel like a bargain, that's mere pocket change for a delicious morsel. But the best part about small cookies is that you can eat a ton of different kinds, and then tell yourself you only ate a few very little cookies, it's not like you pigged out or anything.
My Sunday afternoon picks: (Clockwise from the top) fleur de sel chocolate chip cookie, lemon bar, chocolate peanut butter brownie, bacci, espresso cream and peanut butter cookie sandwich.
The cookies are the perfect combination of subdued sweetness and flavor.
